Software development from Spain for US teams

10Code is a Spain-based boutique software engineering company that works with US startups, scale-ups and mid-market enterprises as a nearshore partner. Our senior team operates from Seville (UTC+1/+2), which gives 4 to 7 hours of real daily overlap with US Eastern time and 3 to 4 hours with US Pacific time. We invoice in either US dollars or euros, sign full IP-assignment contracts under US-compatible law and have delivered software for Fortune 500-scale European clients including Iberia, Banco Santander, Aena, Mercedes-Benz, Nestlé and Grupo Planeta.

  • Senior English-speaking team with daily overlap covering the US Eastern business hours
  • USD or EUR invoicing — no hidden FX fees or cross-border withholdings
  • GDPR-grade data handling by default — more strict than HIPAA, CCPA or SOC2 baselines
  • Track record with Fortune 500-scale European clients — same delivery standards expected by US enterprises

01 // WHY SPAIN

A Spain-based nearshore option for US engineering teams

The conventional nearshore conversation for US engineering teams revolves around Latin America (Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia) or Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania, Ukraine). Both work fine for many teams, but they leave a gap that European boutiques like ours fill well: senior engineering talent with delivery experience for Fortune 500-scale European enterprises, working under GDPR — the strictest data protection framework in the world — at hourly rates that are competitive with, and in many cases lower than, US senior contractor rates.

Time zones are the part that decides most projects. Seville operates in UTC+1 (winter) or UTC+2 (summer). When our team starts the day at 09:00 local, US Eastern is at 03:00 or 04:00. By the time our team reaches lunchtime (14:00 Seville), US East Coast is at 08:00 or 09:00 — full business overlap until our end-of-day at 18:00 Seville. For West Coast clients we run a shifted schedule with reliable overlap between 15:00 and 18:00 Seville, which is 06:00-09:00 PST or 07:00-10:00 PDT — early enough for daily standups, demos and unblock conversations.

02 // CONTRACTS, IP AND COMPLIANCE

Built for US legal and procurement teams

We sign full IP-assignment contracts where every line of code, design and documentation is assigned to the client from the first commit. Standard Master Service Agreements (MSA) with US clients are signed under US law (typically Delaware) with a complementary Spanish addendum for the operating entity, 10Code Software Design, S.L. We provide a W-8BEN-E form so US clients can document their payments without any backup withholding obligation, and we are happy to operate under your standard vendor management process (SAML/SSO, security questionnaires, SOC2 attestation requests, background checks, etc.).

On data protection: we operate under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which is structurally more strict than HIPAA, CCPA, CPRA, COPPA or any state-level privacy law in the US. For HIPAA-covered entities we sign a Business Associate Agreement and align the operational practices to the technical, physical and administrative safeguards required. For SOC2 Type 2 environments we operate as a subprocessor with the same controls applied to source code, secrets, infrastructure access and incident response.

We bill in USD or EUR at your option. USD invoices are settled via wire transfer or ACH to a US-correspondent account; EUR invoices via SEPA. There are no hidden FX fees, no monthly minimums beyond a published hours floor and no escalation clauses tied to commercial milestones. Net 30 is the default, Net 15 on request for early-stage startups.

03 // WHERE WE FIT

Engineering profile and ideal-fit teams

We are not a body shop. The team is small, senior and deliberately built around full-stack engineers with deep specialization in one of: Laravel/PHP, Node.js/TypeScript, applied AI/LLMs, AWS architecture or legacy modernization. We work best as an embedded engineering partner — either a fully-owned project delivered to a deadline, or a dedicated team augmenting an existing US engineering organization that needs European-time coverage for follow-the-sun development, after-hours incident response or specialized capacity.

Typical US clients we fit well: Series A through Series C startups that need a stable senior team without exhausting US contractor budgets; mid-market enterprises ($50M-$500M revenue) modernizing internal software portfolios; product companies that want to launch a European subsidiary and need a local engineering anchor; AI-native startups that need RAG, agentic workflows and evaluation pipelines built by engineers who have shipped them to production, not just prototyped them.

We are deliberately not a fit for: pure offshore body-shopping where headcount is the deliverable, projects where the entire team must be physically co-located in a US office, or engagements that require 24/7 follow-the-sun by themselves (we cover Europe and US business hours well, but Asia-Pacific requires a partner). We will tell you clearly upfront when a project is not a good fit — that conversation is part of the discovery call.

06 // NEARSHORE

Why we work as a nearshore partner

We do not publish a US client roster on this page because our position is nearshore from Spain. Instead, these are the six points that closed the deals with the CTOs who have already chosen us under equivalent conditions.

R_01

Real business-hour overlap

Seville is at UTC+1 or UTC+2. That delivers 4 to 7 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern business hours and 3 to 4 hours with US Pacific (typically 06:00-09:00 PST). Daily standups, code reviews and unblock conversations happen in real time — not over Slack threads with 24-hour latency.

R_02

Senior English-speaking team

All client-facing meetings, code review comments, runbooks, documentation and pull request descriptions are written in English. We do not staff junior engineers on US client teams to inflate margins — every active contributor is a senior with at least six years of relevant production experience.

R_03

USD or EUR billing, W-8BEN-E ready

Invoices are issued in either USD or EUR from a Spanish limited liability company with EU VAT ID ESB90300534. We provide a completed W-8BEN-E so US clients can document payments without backup withholding. ACH or wire transfer for USD, SEPA for EUR. Net 30 default.

R_04

GDPR-grade compliance baseline

We operate under the EU GDPR by default — the strictest data protection framework worldwide. Mapping to HIPAA BAA, CCPA, CPRA or SOC2 Type 2 subprocessor controls is straightforward and documented. Background checks, security questionnaires and vendor management processes are handled as part of onboarding.

R_05

Fortune 500 delivery track record

We have shipped production software for Iberia, Banco Santander, Aena, Mercedes-Benz, Nestlé and Grupo Planeta — European clients with the same audit, security and compliance expectations as US enterprises. The engineering processes that hold up under Banco de España scrutiny hold up under US enterprise procurement as well.

R_06

Client owns everything

Full IP assignment from the first commit, signed in the master service agreement. Code, infrastructure, runbooks, documentation, secrets and tooling configuration belong to the client and live in client-controlled repositories and cloud accounts. There is no vendor lock-in by design.

07 // LOCAL QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions for United States engagements

The concrete questions CTOs and engineering leaders in this geography raise during the first calls. If yours is not here, write to us directly.

Do you have any office or team members in the United States?+
No. The entire team operates from Seville, Spain. We do not maintain a sales presence, a satellite office or contractor relationships in the US. For projects that require occasional on-site presence — kick-off workshops, executive demos, critical milestones — we travel to your office with a transparent travel budget approved in advance.
How does invoicing work for a US client?+
Invoices are issued from 10Code Software Design, S.L. (Spanish limited liability company, EU VAT ID ESB90300534) in USD or EUR at your option. We provide a completed W-8BEN-E so you can document the payment without backup withholding under the US-Spain tax treaty. Net 30 default; Net 15 on request for early-stage startups.
Can you sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement?+
Yes. We operate under EU GDPR by default, which is structurally more strict than HIPAA. We sign Business Associate Agreements with US healthcare covered entities and operate under the technical, physical and administrative safeguards required by the HIPAA Security Rule.
What is the hourly rate in USD?+
$50 USD per hour for a dedicated senior engineer on annual commitment, with volume discounts starting at two engineers. Fixed-price engagements are quoted in either USD or EUR at your option, with no FX adjustment clauses during the contract period.
How fast can a project start from the first call?+
First call within two business days, scheduled in your time zone. Optional one-to-two-week discovery sprint billed by the hour. MSA signed in one to two additional weeks. Team assembled in two to four weeks depending on the seniority profile. Total time from first message to first productive sprint typically runs four to six weeks.
Do you handle 24/7 incident response or follow-the-sun coverage?+
We cover European and US business hours reliably. For 24/7 coverage that includes Asia-Pacific overnight, we recommend pairing us with an APAC partner team. For US-only after-hours response (evenings or weekends), we negotiate on-call schedules with explicit compensation in the contract.
